A PhD student, working in relation with SMC, released his thesis comparing the lifetime costs of different types of roadside barriers. The conclusions show without a doubt that the cable barrier - the "cheesecutter" dreaded by many riders - is more expensive to run in the long term. In addition, they even cause more injuries!
